ABOUT ME

What separates a fine wine from your typical grocery-store isle box of Franzia?  A person who has never indulged in either could muster up the most obvious difference: price and presentation.  Duh.  But…what makes an avid wine enthusiast choose one over the other?  I’d venture to say it’s probably the same thing that draws a music enthusiast to one artist over another.  In fact, I’d be willing to bet it’s the same things that keep those who’ve had their musical taste buds graced with a hint of what KamBINO brings to the table coming back for another taste.

Complexity

A great wine has the ability to leave you guessing far after you’ve savored the last drop.  More inexpensive wines are meant to be easily digestible or…”simple”.   A fine wine on the other hand is intently made to have many layers designed to keep the drinker coming back sip after sip.

In a genre where most often a simple, catchy hook and hypnotically mesmerizing beat equates to chart climbing success and radio dominance, KamBINO leaves a lasting effect that encourages –almost necessitates – listeners to listen over and over again to catch the subtle inferences and multiple entendres intricately placed throughout each stanza in each song.

Concentration

While more costly than other methods, one of the best ways to grow grapes packed with flavor is to limit the yield of the vine by planting vines close together and forcing competition.  The more stressed the vine, the more energy it puts towards producing its grapes which leads to more intense, concentrated flavor.

It’s plain to see the majority of urban music redundantly revolves around the same themes.  Drugs? – check.  Sex? – check.  Violence? – check.  Money/cars/clothes? – check.   Braggadocio surrounding all of the above even if you own, live, or truly endorse none of the above? – DOUBLE check.  Maybe it was the oversaturation of these vines of sour grapes that caused KamBINO to concentrate on things and themes that are actually relevant rather than follow the crowd down a road paved with vanity.  Regardless, what was birthed thru this MC is a flavor unlike anything most have tasted.

“I pride myself in being independent in every sense of the word” Kam explains.  Guess that explains why he doesn’t depend on the ‘in’ sound, the trendy looks, or the cookie cutter messages to put out music research says should be appealing.  Instead, Kam concentrates on being true to himself and makes music based on life from his point of view.  Contrary to what many in the industry seem to believe, people are actually gravitating to that.  “I think people are really tired of being told what they should like and having that forced down their throats” Kam says.  “Rap listeners aren’t stupid; they’re just choosing from what’s placed before them.  So when you give them a taste of something new that’s creative, well prepared and good for ‘em at the same time, they’ll choose that over the alternative more often than some think. “
